I don't want to jinx the project, but everything is going brilliantly! (touch wood.)
Filming began on the 26th of February and went brilliantly. We got all of our shots done that weekend and I got started on the editing process the Monday after. The log and capture took me a few hours due to the great planning during our pre-production phase, all the necessary shots were accounted for, and nothing was missing from the film tapes. So with the tedious bit done and dusted, I cracked on with getting into the rough cut of our edit.
Before starting on the edit, I had already taken the basic and advanced workshops in editing, and so I felt pretty confident with my editing abilities, and very eager to start putting this film together. We use Final Cut Pro to edit on. I really like using this programme, and I've really come to grips with the different short cuts within it. This made getting the rough edit done a very quick process.
During reading week, I spent a lot of time in the edit room and managed to put together the rough cut of our short film within this week. Something I'm pretty proud of to be honest! So, by the time reading week was over and normal classes continued, our group already had a lot to show Mike and get his feedback on.
Currently, we are now putting the finishing touches to the film. Tightening up the cuts and working on our sound design. It's looking really good so far, and with under two weeks till the hand in, we are on track with a great film.
